Buying notes

More detail when you need it

Open a topic for practical buying advice, feature context, privacy guidance or the sources behind this shortlist.

Choosing a camera

Start with the room and routine: decide where the camera will sit, what you need to see, whether you want to speak to your pet and whether you need recordings later.

A 360-degree pan or panoramic design can cover more of a room, but furniture, walls, placement and vertical range still shape what is visible. Tapo lists a 114-degree stated vertical viewing range and a 69-degree mechanical tilt range.

Dogs and cats can create different monitoring questions. Treat tossing or bark detection may suit a dog routine, while a cat owner may prioritise quiet coverage, movement alerts and recording choices.

Features and storage

Resolution describes the image detail a camera can record. Tapo lists 3K 5MP maximum recording (2880x1620), while eufy lists 4K recording. A bigger number does not alone tell you how a camera works in every room or light level.

Tapo lists IR night vision up to 12m / 40ft. eufy lists colour night vision with an integrated spotlight plus infrared night vision. Two-way audio is listed for Tapo C230 and eufy E30.

Tapo lists motion tracking and pet, bark, meow, person and other AI detection. eufy lists on-device human, pet and audio detection plus automatic pet/person tracking. These are listed capabilities, not a promise that every alert will be correct.

Subscriptions and total cost

Local storage keeps recordings on a card, while cloud storage uses a remote service and may add a recurring charge. Tapo supports local microSD up to 512GB without Tapo Care, with optional Tapo Care cloud storage. eufy lists local SD-card and cloud storage and says all functions can be used without subscription fees.

Furbo documentation lists UK Nanny pricing of £6.99 Basic, £7.99 Standard and £9.99 Premium per month. This Amazon offer requires a paid Furbo Nanny plan with a minimum three-month commitment.

The dated observations are changeable. Tapo was observed at £26.99 on sale with £39.99 shown as the regular price; eufy was observed at £49 on an exclusive Prime promotion; Furbo was observed at £42. Check current listings before buying.

Privacy and safe use

A camera points into a private home and may capture household members, visitors and private spaces. Check where footage is stored, which accounts can view it, how you will secure those accounts and whether recording is needed in every room.

Place cameras responsibly, tell household members and visitors where they are used, and review current manufacturer terms and storage controls. This guide does not make a security or privacy certification claim for any product.

Research notes and sources

This guide brings together manufacturer information, named source attributions and dated price observations recorded on 7 October 2026. It is a static buying guide, not physical testing or a live price feed.

Sources include TP-Link / Tapo UK, eufy UK, Furbo UK and Furbo documentation. Retailers take payment and fulfil orders; stock, prices, plans, promotions and terms can change, so check the current retailer or manufacturer information before buying.

The guide uses photo-free cards because no authorised exact-variant product image integration or manufacturer asset is available here. Exact product imagery would require authorised Amazon Associates image access or manufacturer permission and provided assets.
